Regional economic development includes a wide range of production activities in the three main sectors (primary, secondary, tertiary) of the economy and in particular sectors such as agriculture, natural resources, tourism, shipping, health and environment. Graduate economists must acquire special knowledge in these sectors, combined with complete training in the general subjects and analysis tools such as Statistics, Econometrics, Economic analysis, Finance, Business Administration, Institutional Framework, European Union Policies, etc.Â
The Department of Regional Economic Development aims at providing a complete training to students wishing to study economics and also to acquire special knowledge with respect to specific needs of the Greek economy in the urban area and mainly outside the urban area. More specifically, the Department will offer sufficient knowledge and training in the following knowledge domains-tools:
- Economic Theory;
- Quantitative methods and modern technology;
- Business administration and management;
- Application of research theory and methods in the specified object, both at sector level and production unit level.
Moreover, graduates will obtain special knowledge in the primary and urban sector so as to have very good employment prospects. The department’s educational curriculum also provides our students with a wide spectrum of scientific knowledge, which enables them to successfully continue their studies at postgraduate level.
