The Department of Regional Economic Development is a pioneer department in the field of Economic Studies, as its educational curriculum covers the ever developing new sectors and needs of Regional Economic Development.
In that sense, it offers very good employment prospects to graduates by rendering them competitive in the labour market and enabling them to meet the current requirements of the scientific domain of Economics.
Employment prospects refer to both the private and the public sector as well as to the sector of research. Graduates may be employed in:
- The Public Sector (Ministry of Rural Development and Food, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry for the Environment - Planning & Public Works, Public Utility Services, Local Government Organizations, regional authorities, etc.).
- Research institutes, for the working out and the realization of development, research or environmental projects.
- The private sector, for the working out of environmental impact studies, development programs, tourist operations.
The employment prospects of the department's graduates also derive from the fact that the department is filling a gap that exists in the educational curricula of similar university departments. The Department will enable its graduates to be employed at all levels of administration, as members of teams performing research with respect to regional development and programming issues and also in positions related to development, programming and European Union policy.
